  8. The XAD is for file extraction from archives! It can be compared to XFD
  9. system, which is for single file decrunching. They do different work,
  10. but are used together often.
  11.  
  12. This is a library providing an interface for unarchiving all possible
  13. types of file or disk archives. It is NOT an archiver GUI or anything
  14. like that. This system does the COMPLETE unarchiving stuff with internal
  15. routines, NOT calling shell programs or using other programs to do the
  16. work!
  17.  
  18. The interface can be built by application programs like included shell
  19. utilities. It provides same features and interface for ALL types of
  20. supported archivers. E.g. virus checkers could use this system to do
  21. very comfortable background archive checking.

  23. This software is Shareware. See conditions in documentation file.

  25. Changes to last version:
  26. - Added SOS client done by Stuart Caie.
  27. - Added xadUnF script to C directory. It allows to call multiarchives a bit
  28.   easier, but supports extraction and LIST only. Call it "xadUnF <arc> <dest>"
  29.   or "xadUnF <arc> INFO", where <arc> is the basename of the archive without
  30.   extensions.
  31. - Better support for single file crunchers like GZip and BZip.
  32. - Added Arj and "Arj MS-EXE" clients.
  33. - Added XADCF_NOCHECKSIZE and new xadLibInfo version 1.4.
  34. - Added "Zip MS-EXE" client.
  35. - Some code cleanups. Now the error returns of some archivers help much more.
  36. - Added BZip2 external client done by Stuart Caie.
  37. - Updated xadUnFile (1.17) and xadUnDisk (1.7).
  38. - Added lots of new flags and definitions to improve information handling.
  39. - Bug fixes in Zip clients.
  40. - Added LhF client.
